Mark L. Simpson grew up in Chesapeake, Virginia. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice fro Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He then proceeded to earn his Juris Doctorate degree from Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was on the Regent University Law Review for two years, and received two American Jurisprudence Awards during law school as well.
During part of his education at Old Dominion University, Mark worked full time as a police officer at the Portsmouth Police Department in Portsmouth, Virginia. He served there a total of five years, as a patrolman, member of the Special Response Unit, and finally as an Auto Theft detective. During his time at the police department, he was given numerous letters of commendation, and awarded to decorations for Outstanding Police Performance. In addition to investigating numerous traffic accidents, he participated in a large amount of high profile felony investigations and arrests.
After graduating from law school, Mark worked in law firms in both North and South Carolina. Additionally he was an Assistant District Attorney in the Second Prosecutorial District for the State of North Carolina, which included, Beaufort, Martin, Washington, Hyde and Tyrrell Counties. Mark worked in both District and Superior Court as a prosecutor.
Mark has worked for the law firm of Ted A. Greve & Associates. P.A. since January 2001 as a litigator. He handles cases in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Mark also practices in the field of South Carolina Worker’s Compensation Law. He has handled many personal injury cases resulting from traffic wrecks, major truck wrecks and premises liability cases. Mark also vigorously pursues injury cases against intoxicated drivers, where he draws from his police and prosecutorial experience.
Mark is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and the District of Columbia (inactive). Mark is also licensed to practice in the Middle and Western Districts of the United States District Court for North Carolina, and the South Carolina United States District Court. Mark is also admitted to practice before the Cherokee Supreme Court for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
He is a member of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association, and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.
Mark is married to Dr. Dalia G. Simpson, and has three sons: Al, who is a rising senior at the College of Charleston as of May 2013, and Nathan, who will be attending the United States Military Academy at West Point as a plebe as of July 2013, and Timothy, who is in elementary school. Mark is a member of Providence Road Church of Christ in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In his spare time, Mark enjoys spending time with his family, deer hunting, fishing, cooking, camping and canoeing. He also enjoys reading early American History and shooting flintlock rifles.
