A Cobb County crash between a scooter and two cars resulted in the death of one man on Sunday.
According to spokesperson for the Cobb County Police Department, Sgt. Wayne Delk, three other people sustained injuries in the crash which occurred around 9:51 a.m.
The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Marietta resident Jason Sklar. Investigators said Sklar was heading south on Ernest W. Barrett Parkway on a motorized scooter when he ran a red light at the intersection with Macland Road.
He struck a Volkswagen Tiguan which subsequently hit a Toyota Corolla. Sklar was thrown from his scooter and he died at the scene.
The driver of the Volkswagen, 49-year-old Latonya Herndon, and her passenger 17-year-old Ana Herndon suffered minor injuries. They, along with the driver of the Toyota, 29-year-old Stacy Grant, were taken to Wellstar Cobb Hospital. The Herndons are residents of Powder Springs while Grant is from North Charleston, South Carolina.
Police are continuing their investigation into the Cobb County crash. Anyone who has information about the crash is asked to call the Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Unit at 770-499-3987.
Meanwhile, a Worth County High School senior died in a Tift County wreck on Saturday. Deputy coroner Joseph Thompson identified the victim as 19-year-old Rose Jolly.
The Georgia State Patrol said officers were dispatched to the scene at the intersection of U.S. 82 and Carpenter Road just after 11:30 a.m.
The accident involved an 18-wheeler and a Jeep Renegade in which Jolly was the passenger. The teenager died at the scene while the driver of the Jeep was taken to Tift Regional Medical Center.
The GSP said the driver of the 18-wheeler was not hospitalized.
No charges have been filed and none are pending, according to the GSP.
