Accident Involving Horse Trailer Shuts Down I-85 in Gwinnett County

Usually, car accident lawyers in Georgia handle accidents involving cars, trucks and motorcycles. It’s very rare that we talk about an accident involving horses. On Tuesday evening, however, that’s exactly what happened. A portion of Interstate-85 was shut down due to an accident involving a horse trailer and several other cars.

A horse trailer, a box truck and a tractor trailer were all involved in a multi-vehicle crash at about 4:40 pm. The accident happened in the left-hand lanes of the highway near the median. The people in the other vehicles were injured and were taken to the hospital. The authorities have confirmed that they suffered only minor injuries and are expected to make a full recovery.

Two of the horses were able to walk away from the accident. Unfortunately, the third horse was trapped in the trailer and animal control had to extract the horse from the trailer. Thankfully, the horse was able to walk away and is believed to make a full recovery.

Believe it or not, this isn’t the strangest kind of accident the people of Gwinnett country have seen of late. A couple of years ago, there was a bad accident and 87 cattle were strewn across the highway. It took hours to clear the roads. At least in this accident, only one of the lanes were shut down.
