When we see a car chase on a movie, it’s exciting and thrilling. But in real life, a high-speed chase is dangerous and never ends well. Head-on crash in Butts County leaves 4 dead.
23-year old Shikyn Jenkins of Atlanta was running from deputies on Saturday when the Chevy Impala he was driving smashed into a pickup truck. The car hit the victim head-on, going at a fast rate of speed.
Deputies from Monroe and Butts County was chasing Jenkins. He had outstanding warrants from Chatham County. The chase ensued when Jenkins crashed into the truck being driven by Thomas Bowden, a 79-year old man.
Bowden suffered critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Also in the car with Bowden was three passengers. Judy Martin, 72-years old, Sandra Bowden, 76-years old and Ronald Martin, 76-years old. Sadly, both Judy Martin and Sandra Bowden were killed in the crash.
Martin was also taken to the hospital for his injuries. He was the front passenger in the pickup and escaped death.
The two women traveling with Jenkins were also killed in the accident. 25-year old Ebony Young and 26-year old Sulquarin Hayes were also in the Impala when Jenkins crashed into the other vehicle. Both women were killed.
Authorities confirm that both Jenkins and Hayes had felony warrants out of Chatham County. That is probably why they were eluding the police. However this hasn’t been confirmed. The investigation is still ongoing.
