A 29-year-old man was killed in a North Charlotte crash on Friday morning, December 11. The crash involved a 2007 Honda Civic and a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Freightliner Bus. The victim has been identified as Jonathan Davis.
The accident took place around 8 a.m. on Beatties Ford Road close to Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road. Davis was driving the Honda and he was pronounced dead on the spot by Medic.
According to police, initial investigations showed that Davis was heading north on Beatties Ford Road when he veered off the road. The Honda traveled along the grass shoulder for around 100 feet and David reportedly overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. It slid back on the road and went over the yellow lane divider.
Meanwhile, the school bus was heading south on Beatties Ford Road when it hit the passenger side of the Honda. The Honda subsequently rotated, ran off the road, and went down an embankment where it finally came to rest.
The bus ran off the road after the accident and sideswiped a utility pole.
The bus driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Atrium Health for treatment. He was not transporting any passengers.
