Fatal Car Accidents in South Carolina
Every day in the United States, fatal accidents claim the lives of over 110 individuals. Despite the frequency of these tragic occurrences, no family can fully prepare for the deep impact a fatal crash can have on their lives.
In the aftermath of losing a loved one in a fatal accident, families are encouraged to explore filing wrongful death claims against those held responsible. These legal actions provide financial assistance to help families navigate the challenges they face during this difficult time. In a wrongful death lawsuit, some compensable damages include:
- Emotional distress and suffering endured by the family members and loved ones left behind as they cope with the sudden loss
- Emotional pain experienced by the deceased before their passing, reflecting the anguish and suffering they endured
- Funeral and burial costs, covering all necessary expenses required to lay the deceased to rest with dignity
- Lost potential income, which includes the future earnings the deceased would have provided to support their family
- Loss of inheritance and benefits that the heirs and beneficiaries would have received had the deceased lived a full life
- Loss of companionship, reflecting the deep personal void left by the absence of a loved one
- Loss of essential services, which includes the everyday tasks and support the deceased would have contributed to the household
