Fatal Accidents in South Carolina
Dealing with the aftermath of a fatal collision can be incredibly challenging. Unfortunately, in 2022 alone, nearly 43,000 individuals lost their lives in crashes across the United States, highlighting the devastating impact of such tragedies on families and communities year after year.
Many of these collisions stem from negligence, with statistics indicating that almost 9 out of every 10 crashes are a result of some form of driver error or reckless behavior. Common factors contributing to fatal collisions nationwide include:
- Drunk driving: Operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs endangers lives and is a leading cause of fatal crashes.
- Inexperienced drivers: Lack of skill and confidence on the road can result in errors that may have severe consequences.
- Distracted driving: Diverting attention from the road, whether by phone use or other distractions, significantly raises the risk of accidents.
- Running red lights: Ignoring traffic signals poses a serious risk to all road users and can lead to catastrophic consequences.
- Fatigue: Driving while tired impairs reaction times and decision-making abilities, increasing the likelihood of accidents.
