Greenwood Co., SC (April 8, 2024) – The Greenwood County coroner’s office confirmed that 85-year-old James Earl Lockey lost his life as a result of a head-on collision that took place on Friday afternoon, April 5.
At around 1245 p.m., the South Carolina Highway Patrol was called to the scene of an accident that occurred on South Carolina Business Highway 72. Official reports indicate that a 2017 Hyundai Accent collided with a 2011 Freightliner box truck near the 1100 block of the roadway. Authorities arrived at the scene and immediately shut down the road. Lockey was severely injured in the accident. He was pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of his injuries. No other injuries were reported in the accident. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
