Fatal Auto Accidents in South Carolina
Fatal car accidents are reported far too often in our state. Unfortunately, such reports do not prepare families for the overwhelming impact that a fatal collision can have on their lives. The sudden and unexpected loss of a loved one is arguably one of the most challenging experiences that a person will ever face.
Many fatal accidents occur due to driver negligence. Some of the primary factors in these collisions include:
- Weather Conditions: Poor weather conditions can make it difficult for drivers to maintain control of their vehicles. Heavy rain, thick fog, and other adverse weather conditions often lead to numerous accidents.
- Impaired Driving: Far too often, drivers choose to operate their vehicles under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Despite the fact that this behavior is extremely illegal and reckless, it continues to happen. Drunk driving severely affects a driver’s judgment and their ability to control the vehicle, leading to higher chances of crashing into others.
- Distracted Driving: Drivers who do not pay attention to the road ahead can cause devastating accidents that ultimately take the lives of innocent people. Many accidents occur because drivers are eating, talking with passengers, or texting on their cell phones instead of focusing on driving.
The loss of a loved one can have widespread consequences for families. Besides the immense mental and emotional pain, families often face significant financial burdens. To help ease some of the stress during this time, families have the option to file a wrongful death claim. This type of claim can seek compensation for medical expenses, funeral costs, and more.
