Iredell Co., NC (April 19, 2024) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed that a 47-year-old man died after being struck by a tractor-trailer on Thursday morning, April 18.
Official reports indicate that Tyson Matthew Painton was walking westbound on Highway 70 at around 630 a.m. For reasons unknown, he was struck by a westbound tractor-trailer in the area near Cedar Hill Trail. Painton was severely injured in the crash. He was subsequently pronounced deceased from his injuries. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
