Meigs, GA (May 19, 2024) – A major motor vehicle accident reported in Thomas County claimed the lives of two teens while leaving multiple others injured. The collision was reported to law enforcement on Thursday evening, May 16.
Official reports indicate that a Polaris side-by-side vehicle was traveling west on Johnson Street. As the vehicle proceeded through the area of North Church Street, it was struck by a pickup truck. A 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. A 15-year-old and two additional victims were injured. The victims were airlifted to Shands in Gainesville, Florida, and Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Wolfson Children Hospital in Jacksonville for emergency medical treatment. At this time, the incident is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
