Mooresville, NC (January 22, 2024) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed that a fatal accident took place during the evening hours on Saturday, January 20. The accident took place at approximately 4:20 p.m.
According to reports, a 2020 Nissan Sentra was traveling northbound on Interstate 77 when it collided with a 2014 Freightliner tractor-trailer. The incident prompted authorities to close down multiple lanes of the intersection for several hours. The driver of the Nissan, identified as 28-year-old Allante Nathaniel Watts, was fatally injured in the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
