Rome, GA (December 26, 2023) – A Rome/Floyd County Fire Department firefighter lost his life as a result of a fatal accident that occurred in Rome on Friday evening, December 22. The Georgia State Patrol responded to the scene of the crash at approximately 7:30 p.m.
According to official reports, a Ford F250 pickup truck was traveling on Pine Shadows Drive when the vehicle became involved in a collision. As a result, the pickup truck struck a mailbox and a tree before crashing into multiple trees off the side of the road. One person involved in the accident, identified as a firefighter out of Rome/Floyd, sustained fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
