Atlanta, GA (April 6, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported in the Atlanta area during the afternoon hours on Friday claimed one person’s life. Just before 3:00 p.m. on April 5, the Atlanta Police Department tried to stop a pickup truck on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. For reasons unknown, the vehicle fled the scene.
The Georgia State Patrol initiated a pursuit against the vehicle. As the pickup truck traveled through the area of Campbellton Road and Barge Road, the driver ran a red light and crashed into a Dodge Challenger. The impact of the collision caused the challenger to leave the roadway and collide with a utility pole. The driver was ejected from the vehicle, resulting in serious injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect who was driving the pickup truck was taken into police custody. Cart charges are currently pending.
