Augusta, GA (December 17, 2023) – A motor vehicle collision reported in Augusta on Thursday evening claimed the life of one person. The accident occurred at around 9:05 p.m. on December 14.
According to reports provided by the Georgia State Highway Patrol, a vehicle collision occurred on Interstate 520 along the westbound side of the roadway. One of the involved vehicles went off the roadway and collided with a pole. The incident caused delays in the area near Wheeler Road as emergency crews closed off the roadway to provide assistance. One person involved in the accident was fatally injured and pronounced dead while at the scene. At this time, investigations into the accident are ongoing.
