Augusta, GA (December 17, 2023) – A fatal accident reported in the Augusta area claimed the life of one person, according to local officials. On Thursday evening, December 14, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a major motor vehicle accident in Augusta.
According to authorities, a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle on Gordon Highway near Jimmy Dyess Parkway at approximately 8:20 p.m. The bicyclist was severely hurt as a result of the crash. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and located the bicyclist with fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased on site. At this time, the crash is being investigated.
