Atlanta, GA (December 17, 2023) – Emergency officials responded to the scene of an automobile accident that occurred in Atlanta during the early morning hours on Friday and claimed one person’s life. Just before 4:00 a.m. on December 15, the Georgia Department of Transportation notified officials that an automobile accident occurred on Interstate 20.
According to law enforcement reports, multiple lanes of the interstate’s westbound side were blocked as a result of a utility truck crash. The incident caused delays near Moreland Avenue as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. Preliminary crash reports indicate that a utility truck was parked on the right shoulder of the roadway. Employees were working on light fixtures in the area during the early morning hours.
For unknown reasons, a white sedan passing through the area veered off the roadway and struck the truck. One person involved in the accident suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by responding officers while at the site. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
We offer our condolences to the family of the victim killed in this crash.
