Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia
Every year, fatal pedestrian accidents claim the lives of thousands across the United States, including many in Georgia. When such a tragedy strikes, families facing the sudden loss of a loved one must act quickly to hold those responsible accountable.
Starting a wrongful death claim after such a distressing event is a crucial step. It allows families to seek justice and demand responsibility from those at fault while also pursuing financial compensation for the array of damages suffered.
The loss experienced from a fatal accident brings deep emotional pain and a host of financial challenges. With the assistance of a wrongful death lawyer, families can aim for fair compensation for the damages they face. This can include compensation for:
- Medical Expenses: Any medical costs incurred from the time of the accident until the child’s passing can be claimed. This includes emergency services, hospital stays, and any medical treatments.
- Funeral and Burial Expenses: The costs associated with the funeral and burial of the young child are recoverable. This can help alleviate the financial burden of arranging a dignified service.
- Pain and Suffering of the Child: If it can be demonstrated that the child suffered before their passing, compensation for their pain and suffering may be recoverable.
- Loss of Future Earnings: Though difficult, an estimation of the potential lifetime earnings of the child had they lived can be considered for recovery. This takes into account the child’s future earning potential lost due to the fatal accident.
- Pain and Suffering of the Family Members: The emotional anguish and suffering experienced by the parents and siblings as a result of the loss can also be compensated.
