Greenwood, SC (December 11, 2023) – The Greenwood County Coroner’s Office confirmed that 85-year-old David Rearden of Edgefield, South Carolina, lost his life as a result of an automobile accident that took place on Saturday morning in Greenville.
According to reports provided by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, at around 1253 a.m. on December 9, authorities were called to the scene of a crash on the US Highway 25 bypass. Investigations show that a Dodge Ram pickup truck and a Jeep were both traveling westbound on US Highway 25. At the same time, a Lincoln was traveling south on Laurel Avenue. For reasons unknown, the driver of the pickup truck was attempting to evade the police. As a result, the vehicle collided with the Lincoln and the Jeep at the intersection.
The driver of the pickup truck was injured in the accident and transported to an area hospital. The driver of the Lincoln, identified as Rearden, was severely harmed. He was transported to an area hospital, where he passed away from his injuries. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident with the assistance of the Greenwood County coroner’s office.
