Raleigh, NC (December 12, 2023) – A 24-year-old man lost his life as a result of a fatal collision that took place in Raleigh early Saturday morning, December 9. Authorities were called to the scene of the accident, which took place on Highwoods Boulevard at around 2:40 a.m.
Further investigations determined that 22-year-old Daniel Manzano was traveling on Highwoods Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle, causing a collision near Atlantic Avenue. Manzano sustained serious injuries in the accident and was transported to an area hospital.
A second person involved in the crash, identified as Victor Castellanos Martinez, suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased by authorities after being transported to an area hospital for emergency care. Manzano is currently facing multiple charges related to reckless driving to endanger, speeding, driving while impaired, fictitious license plate, and death by vehicle. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the accident are being investigated.
