Lumberton, NC (December 20, 2023) – A 17-year-old lost his life as a result of an automobile accident on Tuesday morning in the Lumberton area. Authorities were dispatched to the scene of the accident at around 3:10 a.m. on December 19.
Reports from the Lumberton Police Department show that a vehicle collision occurred on Interstate 95 during the early morning hours. A 2009 Honda involved in the crash went off the roadway near mile marker 13. The driver of the vehicle was ejected. The victim sustained severe injuries and ended up passing away. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 18-year-old Kiersten Oxendine, was severely injured. The victim was airlifted to a local medical facility for emergency care. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
