Gastonia, NC (December 20, 2023) – Emergency crews were called to the scene of a major accident that occurred in Gastonia and claimed one woman’s life. The crash occurred just before 7:00 p.m. on December 14.
According to local law enforcement, a 47-year-old woman was walking in the parking lot of a Walmart store located in the 3000 block of East Franklin Boulevard during the evening hours. For unknown reasons, the pedestrian, identified as Michelle Williamson, was struck by a minivan. The woman became pinned between the vehicle and a tree. The woman’s two children were also struck by the vehicle.
Both children were transported to area hospitals for emergency medical care. Williamson was fatally injured in the accident and pronounced deceased as a result of her injuries. At this time, the Gastonia Police Department is investigating.
