Pickens Co., SC (March 28, 2024) – A fatal motor vehicle accident reported in Pickens County claimed one man’s life. According to official reports, on March 25, emergency officials were called to the scene of an accident at the new Pickens County Landfill on Greenville Highway near Quarry Road.
Reports show that 49-year-old Ronald Lewis McCarson was working at the scene when he was run over by a piece of machinery. McCarson was severely hurt in the crash. A medical helicopter responded to the scene to fly him to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment. Authorities confirmed that he died after arriving. At this time, investigations are underway with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.
