Union, SC (March 27, 2024) – Authorities confirmed the identity of the two victims who died in the Union crash on Saturday, March 16. The incident occurred at around 4:30 p.m.
A preliminary crash report indicates that a head-on collision occurred between a pickup truck and a sedan at the intersection of Jonesville Lockhart Highway and Kelly Road. The vehicles involved sustained severe damage, with at least one requiring towing from the scene. Both drivers suffered injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
A 19-year-old passenger in the sedan sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim was identified as Carol Santiago. The second victim was transported to an area hospital, where she passed away from her injuries. She was identified as 19-year-old Kristal Lopez. Both victims were South Carolina Army National Guard soldiers. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
