Richland Co., SC (June 3, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported on Saturday morning in Richland County claimed one person’s life. The South Carolina Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene at around 5:20 a.m., on June 1.
Reports show that a 2014 GMC Sierra was traveling eastbound on Interstate 20. As the vehicle proceeded near mile marker 79, it ran out of gas. The driver exited the vehicle. At the same time, a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer crashed into the truck and struck the man. The man was fatally injured in the accident and pronounced deceased by the Richland County Coroner’s Office. The victim has since been identified as 38-year-old Christopher D. Hagan of Lancaster. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
