About Interstate 495
I-495 was a segment of US 64 until the Federal Highway Administration decided in December 2013 that it meets interstate highway standards. It is now considered concurrent with US 64.
The interstate starts at I-440 in Raleigh and will end at I-95 in Rocky Mount. The official I-495 is currently only until Knightdale, but parts of the highway in Wendell are already signed Future I-495. The rest—including sections in Zebulon, Nashville, and Rocky Mount—is slated for an official interstate upgrade.
