Orangeburg, SC (October 25, 2023) – The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office confirmed that one person died as a result of the crash that occurred on Monday.
At around 11:30 a.m. on October 23, the South Carolina Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene of a crash on US Highway 301, Five Chop Road.
Patrol officer reports show that a 2019 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling north on the road when it struck a pedestrian near Webber Farm Road.
The pedestrian sustained significant injuries due to the crash. The victim was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of their injuries. The driver of the pickup was transported to a local hospital for medical care.
The incident is actively being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
