Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia
Fatal crashes occur far too often in our state. In many instances, innocent lives are lost in these fatal collisions due to the reckless and negligent behavior of other drivers sharing the road. Unfortunately, the aftermath of fatal accidents often results in substantial suffering for bereaved families. Depending on the circumstances surrounding the passing of your loved one, your family may have the opportunity to initiate a legal claim for compensation against the responsible party. Some common forms of economic and non-economic damages pursued in wrongful death cases include:
- Lost income
- The loss of parental guidance (for children)
- Funeral expenses
- Pain and suffering
- Medical expenses
- Lost inheritance
- The loss of future earnings
- The loss of companionship (for spouses)
- The loss of social security benefits
- Burial expenses
- The loss of healthcare and other benefits
While it is undeniable that no amount of compensation can ever truly compensate for the overwhelming and unexpected loss of a loved one, securing the necessary financial resources to address the costs resulting from the fatal accident is important. Seeking guidance from a wrongful death lawyer early on can help to make sure you have the best chance of getting justice.
Initiating a legal case as soon as possible is crucial to ensure the preservation of evidence, the availability of witnesses for interviews, and the ability to have experts accurately reconstruct the accident scene to determine the factors that led to the loss of your loved one’s life.
