Charlotte, NC (October 29, 2023) – A child sustained fatal injuries due to a crash reported on the west side of Charlotte on Saturday morning, October 28.
At around 12:45 a.m., the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department was requested on-site at a crash on Brookshire Boulevard. Reports provided by authorities show that 35-year-old Samantha Anita Murray, a juvenile, and a third person were all walking on Brookshire Boulevard during the early morning hours. For unknown reasons, Murray and the child were struck by a 2018 Freightliner tractor-trailer, which was traveling south on the roadway.
Murray was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The juvenile victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the Freightliner, 42-year-old Daniel Scott Davis, was not hurt in the crash.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is currently investigating.
