Kennesaw, GA (December 12, 2023) – A juvenile lost their life as a result of a fatal accident that took place in Kennesaw on Sunday, December 10. At around 8:15 p.m., the Cobb County police and firefighters were called to the scene of a crash on Ben King Road.
Official reports indicate that a group of juveniles were crossing Ben King Road during the evening hours. For unknown reasons, a red 2017 GMC Acadia, which was traveling east on the roadway, struck the pedestrians. The force of the collision caused one of the victims to be ejected from the roadway and into a wooden area off the road. The juvenile victim was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for the treatment of critical injuries.
Authorities confirmed that the victim had passed away from their injuries. The driver of the GMC, identified as Jerome Cox, was arrested by the police. Authorities charged the driver with driving under the influence of alcohol, a suspicion of first-degree home see by vehicle and an array of other charges. At this time, investigations into the crash are ongoing.
