Charlotte, NC (January 26, 2024) – The Charlotte Fire Department confirmed that Capt. Tony Moore was struck and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday evening, January 24. The accident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m.
According to reports provided by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a three-vehicle collision took place on Interstate 485 near mile marker 43 at Highway 51. The involved vehicles were moved to the median as emergency crews arrived. Moore was assisting at the scene when he was struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead while on site. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
