Guilford Co., NC (February 8, 2024) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol identified the Interstate 85 Business crash victim as 42-year-old Quinton Darnell Dean of Jacksonville, North Carolina.
According to crash reports, just before 11:40 a.m. on February 5, a 2020 Subaru Outback was stopped with other vehicles on the southbound side of Interstate 85 Business. For unknown reasons, the vehicle was rear-ended by a 2017 International box truck near Riverdale Drive. The force of the collision caused the Subaru to strike a 2002 Ford Econoline van. A passenger in the Subaru, identified as Dean, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Subaru, 63-year-old Nicholas Schottland McCutcheon, was seriously injured in the crash. He was transported to Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina, for emergency treatment. The driver of the truck, 39-year-old Alfonso Devon Allen, and the driver of the van, 53-year-old Brian Keith Huston, were both injured. The victims were transported to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist High Point Medical Center in Winston-Salem for emergency care. At this time, investigations are underway.
Our thoughts are with Nicholas Schottland McCutcheon, Brian Keith Huston, and Alfonso Devon Allen as we hope for their full recovery.
We offer our condolences to the family of Quinton Darnell Dean.
