Toombs Co., GA (February 28, 2024) – The Toombs County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim killed in the motorcycle accident on Friday morning as Wendell NeeSmith of Lyons, Georgia. The accident occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m. on February 23.
Reports from the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office indicate that two motorcycles collided on Old River Road near P.A. Grace Road. Preliminary reports suggest that three motorcyclists were all riding down the roadway when a deer ran out in front of them. One of the motorcyclists, identified as Douglas Hart, struck the deer.
As a result of the collision, a second motorcycle struck Hart’s vehicle. The incident prompted authorities to shut down the intersection while assisting. The driver of the second motorcycle, identified as Wendell NeeSmith, was severely hurt. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he passed away from his injuries. Hart was treated for injuries. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
