Caldwell Co., NC (March 1, 2024) – A 17-year-old lost their life as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Wednesday evening in Caldwell County. Authorities were informed of the collision at approximately 7:30 p.m. on February 28.
Reports from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol indicate that a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu was heading eastbound on US Highway 64 when it collided head-on with a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 pickup truck. A 2018 Chevrolet Equinox traveling down the roadway struck debris before colliding with the Malibu. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 17-year-old male, was fatally injured. He was pronounced deceased by authorities while at the scene. The Chevrolet Silverado driver was injured in the accident and transported to an area hospital for treatment. The driver and passenger in the equinox both sustained injuries and were treated at the scene. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
