Pitt Co., NC (March 30, 2024) – One person has died as a result of a pedestrian crash that occurred in the Bethel area. Authorities were called to the scene of the incident at around 8:15 p.m. on Monday, March 25.
Official reports indicate that three vehicles and two pedestrians were involved in an accident on Highway 11 during the evening hours. The incident prompted the closure of the roadway near the North Pitt High School by Hollowell Road. One pedestrian involved in the accident was fatally injured. The victim, identified as 24-year-old Qua’tityana Whitaker, was pronounced deceased by authorities. The second pedestrian, 26-year-old Antoine Lyons, was injured in the crash. The victim was transported to ECU Health Medical Center for emergency medical treatment of serious injuries. The involved vehicles were identified as an Infiniti, a Hyundai, and a Toyota SUV. The two passengers in the Infiniti, a 24-year-old woman and a young child, were both treated for injuries. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
