Wilkes Co., NC (April 1, 2024) – The North Wilkesboro Police Department confirmed that 49-year-old Peter Thiep Ding lost his life as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Saturday morning, March 20. Authorities were called to the scene of the accident on US 421 Business.
According to official reports, Ding was writing a 2019 Vitacci moped westbound on the roadway. At the same time, a 2003 Nissan pickup truck was traveling eastbound on the same road. For unknown reasons, the two vehicles collided. The North Wilkesboro Fire Department and police responded to the scene and immediately shut down the roadway. Wilkes County EMS responded to the site of the accident to provide medical care to Ding. He was then transported to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
