Dillon Co., SC (May 11, 2024) – The Dillon County Coroner confirmed that 21-year-old John Robert Costello died as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident that occurred near Latta on May 2.
According to official reports, just before 1:00 p.m., a 2005 tractor-trailer Freightliner was heading southbound on Highway 301. At the same time, a 2019 Ford Transit was traveling north on the roadway. For reasons unknown, the two vehicles collided head-on. The driver of the tractor-trailer was airlifted to an area hospital for emergency medical care. The driver of the Ford, identified as Costello, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The accident is being investigated at this time.
