Sumter Co., SC (June 15, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Sumter County claimed the life of 31-year-old Candace Dicks. The accident took place at around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, June 10.
According to official reports, Dicks was walking on US Highway 401 during the evening hours. As she proceeded through the area near Farmingdale Road, she was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle, a 2018 GMC pickup truck, was traveling southbound at the time of the accident. The pickup truck remained at the scene. The pedestrian was severely hurt in the accident. Despite medical efforts, Dicks was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
