Martin Co., NC (June 19, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported on Friday in Martin County claimed one person’s life.
According to reports from the North Carolina Highway Patrol, 36-year-old Linnel Outlaw was driving a 2012 Chevrolet passenger vehicle eastbound on Jones Road. For unknown reasons, his vehicle collided with a Kenworth tractor-trailer. The impact of the crash caused the car to burst into flames. One person involved in the accident, identified as 42-year-old Krystal Whitley, was unable to exit the vehicle. She sustained fatal injuries after being trapped inside. Outlaw was transported to ECU Health in Washington for medical care. Authorities later charged Outlaw with Misdemeanor Death by Failing to Reduce Speed. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
