Winston-Salem, NC (June 25, 2024) – A fatal motor vehicle accident reported in the Winston-Salem area claimed the lives of two people. The incident was reported at around 12:15 a.m. on June 24.
According to official reports, a collision between vehicles occurred on Interstate 40 near the Salem Parkway/ US Route 421 Split. The incident caused a Hyundai Elantra involved in the crash to go off the road and overturn before striking multiple trees. Three people were ejected from the vehicle. Two people involved in the crash were fatally injured. The victims were identified as 22-year-old Jane Mary Alston and 25-year-old Shamanesha Hargrove. One additional victim was injured and transported to a local hospital for medical care. The crash is being investigated at this time.
