Ladson, SC (June 29, 2024) – Emergency crews were informed that their assistance was needed on-site at a crash in Charleston County that claimed the life of one person. The victim was later identified as 20-year-old Juan Garcia.
The motor vehicle collision took place just before one p.m. on Wednesday, June 26. Official reports indicate that a total of two vehicles collided on Highway 78. Investigations determined that one of the vehicles was traveling on Wisteria Street during the afternoon hours. As the vehicle attempted to turn left onto Highway 78, it collided with the second vehicle. The impact of the crash caused one of the vehicles to overturn. A passenger was partially ejected from the vehicle. The second vehicle was pushed off the roadway, causing it to come to rest in a ditch with the driver trapped inside. One person involved in the accident, identified as Garcia, was rushed to an area hospital for emergency care. He was pronounced deceased after arriving. At this time, investigations into the crash are ongoing by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Unit.
