Kenly, NC July 27, 2024) – A fatal truck accident reported in North Carolina on Wednesday claimed the lives of several victims. The crash occurred at around 1:30 p.m. on July 24.
According to official reports, a semi-truck tractor-trailer hauling oranges was traveling on Interstate 95 in Wilson County. As the vehicle proceeded through an area with a lane that was closed for maintenance, the driver failed to reduce their speed while approaching slow traffic. As a result, the truck crashed into a Chevrolet Tahoe, a Toyota Rav-4, and two additional semi-truck tractor-trailers. The vehicle then caught on fire.
Five people in the two SUVs sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. The victims were Linda Whitehurst, Martha Davis, Edward Davis, Elizabeth Tucker, and William Tucker. The driver of the truck was subsequently taken into police custody and charged with five counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. The crash is currently under investigation.
