Anderson Co., SC (January 4, 2024) – A motor vehicle accident reported in Anderson County on Wednesday evening claimed one woman’s life. The Townsville volunteer fire Department responded to the scene of the accident just after 9:00 p.m. on January 3.
Crash investigations indicate that a tractor-trailer and a second vehicle collided on Interstate 85 near mile marker 12. The incident prompted authorities to close down a portion of the roadway as they worked to remove the involved vehicles. Both of the vehicles involved in the crash caught on fire as a result of the incident. One person was rescued and rushed to an area hospital for emergency care. Authorities confirmed that the victim, identified as a female, was severely injured. The Anderson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that she passed away after arriving. The accident is being investigated at this time.
