Asheville, NC (March 27, 2024) – A man lost his life as a result of a fatal accident that occurred in the Asheville area on Thursday evening, March 21.
According to official reports, a 2016 GMC Sierra truck was traveling eastbound on Smokey Park Highway. As the vehicle attempted to turn left onto Acton Circle, it collided with a Hyundai Accent sedan. The impact of the collision caused the Hyundai to collide with a 2010 Nissan Titan truck. The driver of the sedan, identified as 91-year-old Larry Gaither Brooks, was severely hurt in the crash.
Despite medical efforts, the victim passed away from his injuries while at the scene. Two additional victims were transported to Mission Hospital for emergency care. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the GMC, John Terrell Foulk, was arrested and is currently facing charges for failure to yield when making a left turn and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
