Fatal Bicycle Accidents in North Carolina
Fatal accidents occur far too often in our states. Unfortunately, these accidents take the lives of nearly 1700 people annually in our state. When it comes to fatal bicycle crashes, there are several common causes that often lead to devastating outcomes. One significant factor is the negligence of motorists who fail to share the road safely with cyclists. This can include distracted driving, such as texting or talking on the phone while operating a vehicle or failing to yield right of way at intersections.
Another cause is inadequate infrastructure for cyclists, including poorly designed bike lanes and lack of proper signage or lighting. Additionally, drunk driving poses a serious threat not only to other motorists but also to cyclists, who are far more vulnerable on the road due to their lack of protection.
