Carthage, NC (December 14, 2023) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed that 40-year-old Timothy Smith lost his life as a result of an automobile accident that occurred during the morning hours on Wednesday. At around 10:00 a.m. on December 13, the Highway Patrol was dispatched to the scene of a crash on US Highway 15-501.
According to official reports, a Lexus passenger vehicle was involved in a collision with a rollback wrecker on the highway. The driver of the Lexus, identified as Smith, became trapped inside his vehicle. Firefighters responded to the scene and extricated the victim. However, he passed away from his injuries while still on site. The driver of the truck was not injured in the accident. At this time, the incident is being investigated by the Carthage Police Department.
