Chapel Hill, NC (January 22, 2024) – the Chapel Hill Police Department confirmed that 20-year-old Mary Elizabeth Rotunda lost her life as a result of a motor vehicle accident early Sunday morning, January 21. The police department was notified of the crash just before 2:30 a.m.
According to official reports, a vehicle collision occurred on Raleigh Road in the area near West Barbee Chapel Road. The incident prompted authorities to close off the roadway as they provided assistance at the scene. One person involved in the accident, identified as Rotunda, was fatally injured. She was pronounced deceased as a result of her injuries by authorities. One additional victim suffered injuries in the crash. The victim was identified as 21-year-old Brianna Tiera Pinson. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
