Charlotte, NC (January 3, 2024) – The Charlotte Police Department confirmed that 18-year-old Mariella Elizabeth Sanches Gutierrez was fatally injured as a result of an automobile accident that took place in the Charlotte area on Sunday morning, December 31.
Just before 12:10 a.m., the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the scene of an automobile accident that occurred on North Sharon Amity Road. Crash reports indicate that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on the roadway near Spanish Quarter Circle. Authorities arrived at the scene to provide care to the victim. However, the pedestrian, identified as Sanches Gutierrez, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping. The crash is being investigated at this time.
