Charlotte, NC (January 3, 2024) – The North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed that 31-year-old York Mobley Winstead of Indian Trail lost his life as a result of an automobile accident that occurred on Sunday. On December 31, at around 8:40 p.m., Highway Patrol was notified that they were needed at the scene of a major crash on Interstate 485.
According to official reports, a collision between a Dodge Charger and a Toyota Camry occurred on the outer loop of Interstate 485. The incident prompted authorities to shut down the roadway near mile marker 54. The driver of the Toyota, identified as Winstead, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was pronounced deceased by authorities. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating.
