Columbus, GA (January 10, 2024) – The Columbus Police Department confirmed that 23-year-old Jibri Jerome Charles lost his life as a result of an automobile accident that took place in Columbus on Monday evening, January 8.
Police reports indicate that a collision involving an unknown number of vehicles occurred on Interstate 185 S. The incident prompted authorities to close down the roadway near Warm Springs Road as they provided assistance at the scene. One victim involved in the accident was ejected from their vehicle. The victim, identified as Charles, was pronounced deceased at the scene at around 9:54 p.m. No other injuries were reported. The Columbus Police Department Motor Squad is actively investigating to determine the cause of the collision.
